Milei, identifying as an 'anarcho-capitalist', is an outspoken admirer of President Trump, who signed a directive on his January 20 inauguration day to have the US pull out of the WHO, an organization he has also criticized for its response to the pandemic.
President Trump stated he withdrew America from the UN body because he believes the US was being taken advantage of by the organization, describing the federal government's overpayments over the years as 'onerous'.

Announcing Argentina's own decision to withdraw from the World Health Organization, presidential spokesman Mr. Adorni stated that the country does not receive financial support from the international organization for healthcare management, and as a result, the move would not involve any spending reductions.
He added that it will not impact the quality of healthcare services.
"On the other hand, it offers the country more flexibility to implement policies that are tailored to Argentina's interests and needs, and greater availability of resources,' Adorni continued. 'It also reinforces our country's path to healthcare self-determination.'

A statement from the presidential communications team, released X minutes after Adorni's press conference, stated that the WHO had advocated for "never-ending lockdowns" during the pandemic "without any scientific basis".
'The current World Health Organization's guideline is flawed, as it was created with politics instead of science, which consequently restricts countries' ability to govern themselves in health matters,' the statement stated further, adding 'countries' sovereignty'.
In addition to the weakening of its relationship with WHO, Argentina is also considering its withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change, according to Adorni's statement.
The MailOnline has asked the World Health Organization for a comment.
